Memberships

As a UNC Asheville Student, Faculty, or Staff, you automatically have access to all programs and facilities by using your RockyCard! With your membership, you’ll have access to group exercise classes, a 6-lane swimming pool, multipurpose and racquetball courts, a cardio and weight fitness room, an indoor track, locker rooms, and more. Retiree also receive free membership, but must purchase a RockyCard if they do not own a UNC Asheville-issued form of identification that has an ID number on the front.

Purchase Membership At The Student Recreation Center Desk

Below you will find information on each membership type for non-students, faculty, or staff and the various documents necessary in order to verify eligibility. Membership includes access to the UNC Asheville fitness center, indoor track, multipurpose courts, racquetball courts, and pool. We operate collegiate recreational facilities, and therefore our hours of operation and services are limited to what we can provide with student employment availability and the academic calendar. Thank you for your understanding as we will experience reduced hours during academic breaks.

In addition to any specific documents required for your membership type, please bring a government-issued ID and your RockyCard (or older OneCard) if you own one. If you do not possess one of these UNC Asheville-issued forms of identification, you will need to purchase one for $25 at the time of membership purchase. Memberships and RockyCards can be purchased at the Student Recreation Center Front Desk, located at 400 Wellness Way, Asheville NC 28804.

Eligibility:

Affiliate Memberships are available to spouses, partners, and dependents of UNC Asheville sponsors or retirees who share a physical address.

  • Affiliates can verify their status by bringing any of the following documents at the time of purchase: Photo IDs with the same address, a lease or billing statement jointly addressed, or stamped pieces of mail sent to the same address. The documentation must clearly indicate that the sponsor and affiliate live with one another.

Campus Partner Memberships are available to Forest Services at UNCA and employees of Chartwells and Follett at UNC Asheville who are employed full-time, working for at least 30 hours a week for at least nine months out of the year

  • Campus Partner can verify their status by bringing any of the following documents at the time of purchase: Evidence of employment with NC Forest Services, Chartwell, or Follett through contract or recent pay stub.

Alumni Memberships are available to UNC Asheville alumni and those who will be alumni by the membership start-date.

  • Alumni can verify their status by bringing any of the following documents at the time of purchase: Your academic transcript, evidence of your diploma, or an @alumni.unca.edu email address, presentable to the front desk.

OLLI Memberships are available to active members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville.

  • OLLI Members can verify their status by bringing any of the following documents at the time of purchase: A receipt from OLLI that shows recent purchase of membership.

AB Tech Pool Memberships are available to AB Tech Faculty & Staff

  • AB Tech Members can verify their status by bringing any of the following documents at the time of purchase: AB Tech Identification card or an AB Tech email address.

Eligibility of minors:

  • Dependent minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times
  • No entry permitted to the Sherrill Fitness Center for anyone under 16 years of age
  • No entry permitted to the pool for children in diapers or 4 years old and younger

Cost:

Memberships are sold at semester and annual rates (annual purchase only available for August – July membership term).

UNC Asheville Retiree

  • Retiree memberships are free, but purchase of a RockyCard is required if you do not own a UNC Asheville-issued form of identification.

Student Affiliate Rates

  • Fall: $150 (reduces to $90 following Fall Break)
  • Spring: $150 (reduces to $90 following Spring Break)
  • Summer: $75
  • Annual (August – July): $375

Faculty, Staff & Retiree Affiliate Rates

  • Fall: $200 (reduces to $120 following Fall Break)
  • Spring: $200 (reduces to $120 following Spring Break)
  • Summer: $75 (reduces to $40 after July 1)
  • Annual (August – July): $475

UNC Asheville Alumni & Alumni Affiliate

  • Fall: $225 (reduces to $135 following Fall Break)
  • Spring: $225 (reduces to $135 following Spring Break)
  • Summer: $75
  • Annual (August – July): $525

Members should purchase a Visitor Parking Pass through Transportation Services here: Parking is enforced 24/7, 365 days a year.
