No lessons over the summer.  Please check back in the fall!!

iRec offers dependents of both UNC Asheville affiliates and community members the opportunity to learn and develop aquatic skills through a variety of swim lessons. All lessons are taught by our own certified lifeguards and instructors. Lessons are catered to each individual’s skill level and will be designed with a foundation of progression throughout.

Participants can choose between Private Lessons for one-on-one personalized lessons, Youth Group Lessons in which participants will be divided into skill levels, and Adult Group Lessons. Below are descriptions of all lesson types so you can choose the best fit for you or your child.

For additional questions contact (828) 232-5650 or e-mail recsprts@unca.edu.

Private Swim Lessons Individual one-on-one lessons that will be catered to each participants's skill level and will be designed with a foundation of progression throughout. Whether you are a true beginner to the aquatic environment or would like to refine your stroke technique, our instructors will work to meet each individual’s specific goals.
Youth Group Lesson Level 1: Tadpole Introduction into fundamental water skills and water exploration. Students with little to no experience should start in Level 1 where they will be introduced to skills which will lead to their overall development in the aquatic environment.
Youth Group Lesson Level 2: Fish Students will build off the skills learned in Level 1 and will continue to develop their fundamental skills while building their stroke development.
Youth Group Lesson Level 3: Dolphin Stroke development, improvement, and refinement. Students will be introduced to all strokes and will be able to comfortably handle themselves in the water. Designed for students who have already mastered the skills taught in Level 1 and Level 2.
Adult Swim Lessons Lessons will focus on becoming comfortable in the water, and other entry-level swimming skills. Lessons are also for those who are comfortable in the water but want to refine stroke technique and develop individual swimming skills. Each lesson will be taught by experienced UNC Asheville Lifeguards/Instructors, will be catered to all levels and will include instruction across a variety of skills. No experience necessary!
